Found on the Beach Series, 2023
Note: There is currently no documentation for this series outside of the Exhibition Documentation from the Intricate Rituals Exhibit, 2023. This is in progress, and I hope the photos from the group show gives a good idea of the work. The colors in these sheets of paper are intentionally hazy, and the artwork was installed to take full advantage of its translucency and visual softness by floating the pieces off the wall. While adding a beautiful luminosity from light passing through the abaca and bouncing off the walls, this also made the work difficult to photograph due to reflected light. Please contact if you are interested in more information.
This series was made in an educational context and focuses in on color as a medium, putting a twist on a contemporary pulp-painting technique in order to transfer pigment onto paper in hazes and soft blends. The technical exploration was guided by admiration for contemporary stained glass and its ability to filter the outside world into vivid abstraction.
